A caffè breve is similar to a cappuccino but creamier, its an espresso with steamed half-and-half instead of milk. Although, I make it with steamed milk and add the half-half separately, making it slightly healthier (or so I tell myself).
What you’ll need:
– Coffee maker – Chemex or Nespresso, what ever you usually use!
– Milk Frother
– Milk – 2 tablespoons
– Half-and-Half – 1 tablespoon
– Cinnamon – A pinch (optional)
Brew an espresso sized portion of coffee. I use a Nespresso with one capsule of the Dharkan variety (rated Intensity 11 out of 12) so its nice and strong.
Next add a small amount of milk into a frother, about 2 tablespoons, I add just enough to cover the bottom of the frother pot. Heat and froth.
Next, add the half-and-half to the coffee, about 1 tablespoon. If you pour from a relatively high height it will help to increase the coffee creme at the top.
Add the steamed milk the same way as the you did with the steamed milk, it will again help to increase the size of the creme/foam on top.
Finally, sprinkle a fine dusting of cinnamon on top, and enjoy!
